![]() Established in 1948 by Walter Zimmerman who was joined in 1955 by Rich Mercer, Mercer-Zimmerman, Inc. has become a well-respected lighting manufacturers' representative throughout Kansas and Western Missouri. Originally based in Wichita, KS, Mercer-Zimmerman relocated to Kansas City, KS, when the company incorporated in 1969. President Rich Mercer grew the company from a small basement office to its current 5800 sq. foot office building in Overland Park, with branch offices in Springfield, MO; and Topeka and Wichita, KS. Mercer-Zimmerman's diverse team of sales, quotation and customer service staff has allowed it to become one of the largest manufacturers' representatives in the state of Kansas and western Missouri. With a consistent market presence for more than 46 years, Mercer-Zimmerman has developed strong relationships with countless customers -- from the specification community to the electrical contractors. In 1999, Tom Eads and Shon Yust became owners of Mercer-Zimmerman through a succession plan that reached completion in January 2002. In 2005 Tom Eads retired and Shon Yust became president and sole owner of Mercer-Zimmerman. Yust has focused on maintaining the leadership and customer service that Mercer-Zimmerman's customers have come to expect, while continuing to grow the company. COMPANY PHILOSOPHY Mercer-Zimmerman was built on a sound reputation of honesty and fairness. It strives to maintain an open relationship with all of its customers but defines its most important customer to be specifiers -- and one of Mercer-Zimmerman's strength is providing paths to new technology and products for these key customers. Mercer-Zimmerman's strong commitment to building and maintaining excellent relationships with the specification community is augmented by its contractors and distributors -- strengthening the foundation upon which Mercer-Zimmerman has flourished for nearly half a century. And, because a company is only as valuable as the people within it, Mercer-Zimmerman strives to attract quality professionals to its sales staff. Sales, quotation, and customer service personnel comprise a team that is respected throughout the professional community. Finally, because its reputation and image is directly related to that of its factories, Mercer-Zimmerman rounds out its commitment to quality with an exhaustive pursuit of quality manufacturers, continually re-evaluating current and new manufacturers to determine where improvements can be made. |
